There are actually a number of different remotes referred to as MCE Remote. They basically function the same, but have different buttons available.
The MCE Remote is provided with MCE Editions of Windows. Other manufacturers have also provided their own versions.

If you want to use your MCE2005 Remote with Windows XP Home, you will find the necessary drivers in the Downloads Repository Archive.
Windows XP Professional - MCE2005 Remote
The drivers needed are already included after the installation.
Just plug in the receiver and enjoy
If you need MCE keyboard to work update the driver from the
Windows Vista - MCE2005 Remote OR Vista MCE Remote
In Windows Vista the drivers are already included as well.

Tips & Tricks
Remote suddenly stops working
Every now and then it could happen, that the MCE remote suddenly stops working.
Which means that the backlight of the buttons is no longer working and it is not sending commands anymore.
When this happens, then either the batteries are empty or the remote has gone nuts.
One simple solution:
- Remove the batteries for a few minutes, then insert them again. This will reset the remote.
- If it is still not working, then try to replace the batteries with new ones.
