MpExtended

MpExtended (replacing Tv4Home/GmaWebservice) allows access to your media files and MediaPortals Tv Server. It directly works with the databases that MediaPortal creates so MediaPortal does not have to be running for MpExtended to work. MpExtended also installs a tray application that allows interaction with the currently logged in user.

aMPdroid uses MpExtended for

• Media section (Shares, Videos, Series, Movies)
• Music section (Folders, Artists, Albums, Songs)
• Downloading and streaming of items to your mobile
• TV section (Manual Control, EPG, Channels, Schedules, Recordings)

aMPdroid uses MpExtended tray app for

• Sending power commands to pc (shutdown, hibernate)
• Start/Stop MediaPortal

WifiRemote

WifiRemote is used to communicate with a running MediaPortal client. It is a MediaPortal process plugin so it will only work if MediaPortal is running.

WifiRemote in aMPdroid is used for

• the remote control screen
• sending commands to MediaPortal (volume, buttons, ...) and receiving information (nowplaying, current screen,...)
• the "Play on PC" action
