How to setup Weather for MediaPortal
Configuration Methods
You may configure up to 10 Weather locations, either within MediaPortal, or by using the MediaPortal configuration tool.
When you first install Weather, several 'sample' locations are already available so you can begin to use the plugin immediately and add your own location(s).
Setup within MediaPortal
Open the 'context' menu via the Info/More button on your remote, F1 on an keyboard, or right mouse click
Setup using Configuration tool
- Open MediaPortal Configuration from the desktop shortcut or Windows Start > Programs Menu > Team MediaPortal > MediaPortal > MediaPortal Configuration
- Select “Plugins” from the left-side menu
- Select “World Weather Lite” in the list of plugins (near the end of the WIndows plugins)
- Press the “Config” button to open Setup:
Profile
NOTE: After completing (or changing) the parameters for any profile, click the "Save" button next to the profile selector, before selecting a different profile.
Profile: Select the specified profiles here.
City: Enter the city name here.
(Required for World Weather Online and Weather Underground)
Detect…: If the fields like City or Postal code are empty, this function tries to detect your location based on your WAN IP address (this can be inaccurate; the result depends on your local network provider), otherwise all known location from a geo location database will be displayed in a selection box.
City Code1: Enter the international city code or Yahoo specific Where On Earth ID here. If you decide for the second method, please mask the code with symbol “*” at beginning. (Required for Yahoo and Foreca)
Postal Code: Enter the postal code here, without country prefix. For example, use "1100" (not "NL-1100") for Amsterdam.
Country2: Enter or select the country name here. (Required for Weather Underground)
Description: Enter a location description here.
Time zone: Select the appropriate settings here.
Units: Select the desired units for display of temperature, wind, barometric pressure and visibility.
Provider
These settings apply to all profiles.
Current/Forecast condition provider: Please select your preferred weather provider here.
Provider Key: If the "Key" button is enabled, the weather data provider you have selected requires a key to access its data. Select the provider and press the button “Key” to enter your private key for selected weather provider. If you don't yet have a key, you can use one of the links provided on the "Troubleshooting" tab to obtain one.

Refresh every: Please define the refresh time here.
For specific settings (e.g. to prevent network timeout problems), please see the configuration's "Troubleshooting" tab.
NOTE: After completing (or changing) any of the parameters above, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the "Weather" tab to close the Setup panel. If you access the "Troubleshooting" tab, remember to go back to the "Weather" tab and use "Save" to close, otherwise your changes will be lost.
1 This plugin use standardized weather location codes only. The first way is to use the international location code or the Yahoo specific Where On Earth ID code. To find the correct code, please try searching the internet. As an example for international location codes of Germany, you find a complete list here.
2 This text must match the Weather Underground country definition.
