Weather features and how to use them

Display Current and Forecast Weather

You can display both current weather and forecast weather. More details are available for current weather.  Weather forecast data varies according to the weather provider. For example, Yahoo provides on 2 day forecasts, will WorldWeatheOnline can provide 10 day forecasts.

You may select a different weather provider for current weather vs forecast weather data.  The selected weather providers apply to all locations, however you can change them easily.

Change Weather providers

To select your weather provider for current or forecast data:

1. Open the 'context' menu via the Info/More button on your remote, F1 on an keyboard, or right mouse click.
   
2. Change current condition weather provider: Change your preferred provider for current weather conditions.
3. Change forecast condition weather provider: Change your preferred provider for forecast weather conditions.

Add a Location(s)

To add a weather location:

1. Open the 'context' menu via the Info/More button on your remote, F1 on an keyboard, or right mouse click.
   
2. Select either:
   1. Add weather location wizard - the wizard asks for a location name and shows results of a search for possible locations.
   2. Manually add weather location wizard - the wizard asks for required parametersin the following order: Location name, Location code, Location postal code, Country name, Time zone, Metric

You may add up to 10 weather locations. If you have used them all, the 'wizard' will ask if you wish to overwrite the last location.

Change Location

To change your weather location simply,

1. navigate to the main menu, e.g. via the left arrow key (in some skins the menu may be 'hidden' and slide or fade into view)
   
2. select the Location button
3. select your location from the list of locations you have added

Refresh Weather Data

You may set an auto refresh interval in Setup. However, if you wish to refresh the data manually,

1. navigate to the main menu, e.g. via the left arrow key (in some skins the menu may be 'hidden' and slide or fade into view)
   
2. select the Refresh button

Display Weather data on Home screens or other windows

The Weather plugin supports the display of weather forecast data on Home Screens as well as current weather info on other screens/windows.  This feature is depends on the skin you choose/use, but is supported by the MediaPortal Default and Titan skins, as well as most community skins.

Note:  The weather info of the currently selected location in the Weather plugin is displayed.
