It was always a little difficult for end users to use plugins cause there was no "standard way" of installing.
The installer is a separated program located in same directory as mediaportal with abilities to make, update, download, install and uninstall mpi packages. Information can be found in the wiki.
Plugin-coder should have a look and add their plugin as .mpi to the MediaPortal Installer (MPI) section. The program is included in latest SVN. Please also provide us with feedback and suggestions in this thread.
The online support(updating, online browsing with MPInstaller) is not implemented yet...
Recently the Team MediaPortal has been talking internaly about the current design of TV-Servers MyTV Client Plugin.
Now we would like to ask YOU what you think about how it should work, look and feel. Therefor we have created a new sub-forum where you can start a thread for your proposal. Click here for further details if you want to actively contribute to MediaPortal and help us to improve it. We are waiting anxious for your mindblowing concept designs!
As some of you may have noticed it has been a little calm the last weeks. However this doesn't mean that development has slowed down. We just realized that alot of work was going on trying fresh skin ideas and creating amazing new plugins. Therefore we focused on getting MP more stable than ever and smoothing the edges.
To fullfill our goal we need your help! Please download the new release candidate (which should be quite safe to use) and report the remaining bugs. While we're trying to squish those bugs the skin and plugin devs might want to use the time to get their goodies ready for the 0.2.3 final release.
We're interested in your HTPCs and if you're looking to upgrade for HDTV, HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc support.
The reason why we're asking is that we have an option to implement a H/W decoding solution that will require you not to have to upgrade at all in most cases.
Just a bit about the hardware decoding solution. It will be capable of decoding VC1, MPEG-2, H.264, DivX & Xvid video streams with most audio.
So if you have a high CPU% decoding any of these at the moment in standard or high definition then it may be a solution for you.
Also note any purchases if we go ahead will automatically result in donations to MediaPortal too!
So as a new release is not that far away we need more direct feedback for the 'Nightly Builds '. To achieve that we moved the snapshots to the forum. They are build nightly as before (or if something important changed even during daytime) but now a new thread is generated for each one including the download link.
Here you can discuss or comment this particular snapshot, describe whats not working or just prove with others that your problem is not just related to your local installation. You can use the forum-RSS-feed function to get a notice when theres a new build posted for MediaPortal or the TVEngine3.
Please remember that this threads should not replace the detailed bugreports so please write one if you are sure that you found a new bug. Thanks!
