Unfortunately there are numerous people out there making profit from MediaPortal by selling it on e-bay.
The unfortunate reality is that we cannot stop them. Under the GNU General Public Licence anyone can sell MediaPortal for whatever fee they wish.
General practice in this area is to usually charge enough to cover the cost and or some profit to donate to the source project to help development.
What is dissapointing is that these people selling MediaPortal never seem to 'donate' any funds or for that matter ask us if they can sell the product.
We have recently added support for CyberLink & InterVideo Encoders for TV cards who do not ship with encoders or decent ones (i.e. Pinnacle).
You can get these encoders with popular applications such as CyberLink PowerCinema, PowerEncoder etc. The InterVideo titles would be Home Theatre, WinDVR, iVideoToGo etc.
This enables more users to use thier TV cards with MediaPortal provided they have a decent processor (See my news item on the 5th of February).
Just wanted to let you know we are going to release MediaPortal 0.2.0 on the 18th of March. Although we initially planned to have a new recording engine in this release and hence the major version change the team ran into some problems and so it has been deferred. A new recording engine is still on the roadmap however we'll continue to use DVR-MS until futher notice. The primary objectives over the next few weeks will be a Core speed-up, GUI Wizard tidy-up, My Music - push to play & to fix all those nasty bugs you'll help us find between now and then.
I'm looking for PHP developers, that know SQL(mySQL) and XML. Also HTML and Javascript experience is needed.
You are able to manipulate XML files through PHP. You have been working with Sessions before, and user databases. Also if you have experience in doing webservices, that would be a plus.
You got some time to spare/want to contribiute and would like to make MediaPortal better.
If that's you - contact me via email:

As some of you may know the SkyStar 2 code was updated and during that time the support was broken. This should be fixed for most users however you should delete the card_card?.xml files before trying to re-tune and use this.
