1. I'd recommend the SS2
When i first started using MP 2 years ago many of the developers seemed to have a Technisat Skystar 2 so i bought one of those. I'm really glad i did as it has worked really well and realiably through all that time. I'd definitely give it the thumbs up.

1. also a good card but no dvb-s2 / CI
i also use a skystar2 card here. 
if you do not need a CI (for paytv) or dvb-s2 (hdtv) 
then its definitly a good choice.

2. SS2
I used this card until I purchased the Hauppauge Win Nova TV HD. The signal strength was not up to much and cannot drive a motor.
