1. Confused...
I would love to be able to use CoreAVC, but so far I have not been able to get mkv files to play in MP using CoreAVC (error: vmr9 unable to render the file). TS files do play, but for some reason vobsub doesn't seem to kick in so I don't get any subs. Back to ffdshow for me I'm afraid.

1. ffdshows is better imho...
I have tried CoreAVC and ffdshow on the same H264 movie with a long fade in at the start of the movie (about 5 seconds from black to original picture), and I must say ffdshow is far better then CoreAVC. With the fade in coreavc does this in noticeable steps, while with ffdshow it runs smoothly. Also I have the impression picture quality is better with ffdshow, more contrast and sharper. I must say I havent tweaked coreavc and/or ffdshow, so I left all on default values.
