Skype4MP Updated download_trans.gif Download

Description:

Skype4MP allows you to control Skype and access Voice calls and Chat messages from within MediaPortal.

Requires Skype 3.8.0.x (not 4.0 beta), with the Extras Manager installed.

Latest Release:

V0.1.1.6

Allows you to change the Audio Input and Output devices from the GUI - useful if you want to switch from a headset to the speakers (so you can let the whole family in on the conversation).  Setting this changes it for Skype, not just the current call, so subsequent calls will use the same devices.

Note: There's a bit of jiggery-pokery going on to make the device names fit the GUI controls and still be easily identifiable, so if it doesn't work for you, please let me know (and include MediaPortal.log!).

V0.1.1.5 (test release)

During a call, suppresses the Skype window with extreme prejudice unless Video is being received.

V0.1.1.4:

Added online setting of all configuration options, although some (notably Handle Voice/Chat and sub-options) won't take effect until you restart MediaPortal.

Initial Installation

1. Download the latest release.

2. Run the MP Installer, click on Install Extension to navigate to the downloaded file - install it, then close the MP Installer.

3. Start MP Configuration, right-click on Skype4MP, and enable it.

3a. If you want the plugin on the main menu, right-click and set the option appropriately.

4. Right-click again and select Configuration; set the options on all tabs appropriately.

5. Close the configuration dialog.

6. Still in the MP Configuration, go to the General tab and make sure that MP is not set to start full screen and is not "Always on top".

7. Close the MP Configuration.

8. Start MediaPortal; select Skype from the main or plugins windows (depending on your settings above).

9. Skype will pop up a dialog saying "Another program is trying to access Skype" - set the check box to always allow access, then click OK.

10. If you have selected Silent Mode, Skype will then ask you confirm that Silent Mode is allowed - set the Always alllow checkbox and click OK.

11. (Recommended) Close MP, set the MP Configuration options back to Alwys on Top and Full Screen if desired, then restart MP and enjoy using Skype from the couch.

Installing Updates

1. Download the new MPI, overwriting the previous version.

2. Use the MP Installer to Reinstall the plugin.

3. Follow steps 6 through 11 above, except that the access dialog will be "A changed program is trying to access Skype".
