4:3 Skin Winner is 3DMP

Well after a re-vote the 3DMP skin won the poll for the 4:3 skin.

Some devlopers are working very hard to bring the next generation of GUI engine based on xaml to reality. Hopefully this will be ready for the 0.3.0 release and obviously you can expect the default 4:3 skin to look like 3DMP from Vanessa.

Please submit your 16:9 skin's within the next couple of days so we can start a 16:9 poll.

I still strongly believe there should be ONE default skin theme for both 4:3 and 16:9. When people see a screenshot of a default MP install it should be immediately obvious that it is MP running (think: reviewers, first-time users). I also believe that having the same 'base' skin would make keeping both the 4:3 and 16:9 skins up to date and bug-free much simpler.

I can't see any good reason why MP should have a different default skin for the two aspect ratios, especially given that other skins will (hopefully) be very simple to download and install in 0.3 if users want something else.

I really hope that 3DMP is included in the 16:9 poll (and wins)...

Me too absolutely agree that MP should have the same default skin for 4:3 and 16:9. The skin is a sort of presentation ticket so it would be confusing if it is not the same. Think to recensions in magazines, what skin would be printed id there are two defaults? In my opinion any skin should be both 4:3 and 16:9, I know we can't pretend this from developers but we must pretend this for the default Skin.

Yes, I agree. There should simply be one default skin supplied with the standard install of MediaPortal (4:3 and 16:9). If users want an alternative they can simply download it. I think the key is to keep the default install as clean and simple as possible, but make it quick and easy to add additional skins and plugins.

I agree with everyone above. As much as I like the "Reality" skin I think Mediaportal needs a recognisable face and 3DMP should be the default skin for both 4:3 and 16:9. Then "power users" can download any new skins they like.

The question is now:

Site admins/devs - are you still going to run a 16:9 poll, or go with the general consensus here that the poll isn't needed, and a 16:9 version of 3DMP should be developed for the default install of 0.3?

3DMP looks like a great skin. I havent had the chance to try it yet, but it looks very promising!

Oh, and I agree on having the same skin for 4:3 and 16:9 ratios. Consistancy is the key here. Let users then customize their MP installation with whatever skin they desire.

Congratulations Vanessa nice job on the skin.

Even do i voted for PM3 this one was my runner up.
But its easy to see why people voted for this one got a nice professional look.

I just prefer a dark skin, because its asking for less attention then a bright skin.
Hope the color scheme can be changed because its defiantly a nice logical skin :D

I hope that you keep the M$ mediacenter skin included or at least downloadable for lo-spec machinery. MP works best for me with the M$ skin instead of Blue2.
