Animation effects
on 04-11-2006

Isn't opensource beautiful?

After spending some time again with my previous project XboxMediaCenter I was very impressed by the progress these guys are making. Their skin engine includes very nice animation effects like fading, sliding, rotations etc.

Since XBoxMediaCenter is also an opensource project, we started porting their animation effects to MediaPortal. The first results are already in SVN but it will be extended to full support in the upcoming days.

I want to thank all XBMC guys for their work and letting us borrow their code!

Update:

All new animations tags are described in the wiki

Frodo

Great stuff Frodo

I visited the XBMC forums earlier today and I found a thread about porting the new TV client capabilities from MP to XBMC. Thats some exiting stuff, I hope the two teams can work something out. ;)

Regards / Tomas

I tested MP first in summer 2004, there were many exceptions and so on, but guys be true who thought in this time that the project go make this way. It is such nice piece of software, and the team and community is so friendly, even to new users. Frodo and some other devs fixed some bugs half or one/two after the first report of them.

All i want to say: THANK YOU and Let The Show Go On! ;)

That's the beauty of open source. I didn't know XBMC was still going - wasn't that Frodo's original project before he started MP?

Animations are kind of hard to capture in a screenshot, don't you think?

Harley is working on a update for PMIII with animations and other improvements.

For the PMIII lovers I've made a unofficial mod based on the latest PMIII version with animations.

The release Harley is going to do soon will be better! Again, this one is unofficial.

Frodo,

How about helping your buddies over at XBMC being able to play DVR-MS files? They seem to be having a hard time with that. I use XBMC as my front end and Media Portal as my PVR. I'd rather not transcode to mpg if I don't have to.

Thanks!

@goodwad

dvr-ms is mpg, so no need to transcode. It just has a wrapper around the mpg. But: You may look to the new TVServer, which uses "pure" mpg without the dvr-ms wrapper.
