Digital Everywhere now sells light-packages of their products which offcourse are cheaper then the full blown product The FloppyDTV Light Package is especially suited for people building their own HTPC and who already own a remote controller and MPEG-2 codec Last week I spend some time chatting with the guys from Digital Everywhere. We talked about how MediaPortal can make better use of their hardware and they showed me some of their new tricks Good news this will benefit all MP users which own a FireDTV/FloppyDTV box. So what can you expect: H/W pid filtering. H/W pid filtering is a new feature of the firedtv/floppydtv boxes.This neat feature will limit the bandwidth needed on the firewire bus by only sending the video/audio streams of the current selected tv channel to the PC, instead of all transmitting all the video/audio streams of all the tv channels of the current transponder. This will result in much smoother playback and less stuttering. Current status is : 1. H/W pid filtering is in cvs and working for me 2. you'll need a new firmware for your FireDTV/FloppyDTV from Digital Everywhere. This firmware is currently under beta-testing and will be released by Digital Everywhere when ready DisEqc support The current FireDTV/FloppyDTV DVB-S units can send diseqc commands to 1-4 LNBs. We are currently adding support for this, so soon MP will support diseqc for the FireDTV/FloppyDTV boxes HDTV support We currently investigating how to HDTV in MediaPortal, especially with high bitrates like QAM256.
