Stable patch for 0.2 release
on 10-07-2006

Although the team is very glad that many people test current svn releases we still want to point out that nightly svn builds are NOT updates or bugfixes of any kind.

Knowing that you are all anxious about new features or to see bugfixes for the last remaining showstoppers we've decided to integrate the most important fixes into the stable 0.2 release to make it even better.

I'll still try to collect important fixes and "little feature updates" which should not break anything to provide the HTPC users which need to watch the WAF with further "appoved" updates. Please keep in mind that 0.3 development has highest priority and this update is not a new release of MP - just a little present for you ;-)

This update is for clean 0.2 installations only and highly recommended. Update instructions are here.

Grab the update!

Click on 'read more' to see the list of changes.

Fixed:
- Scheduled recordings sometimes failed with powerscheduler
- Manual scheduled recordings failed for channels without EPG data
- MCE remote produced "double clicks" after standby on some machines
- Cursor selection changed text color
- Crash in dvblib.dll in rare occasions
- MPSA had "normal" merits; this is okay but gb-pvr has problems with this
- Project X settings navigation
- DiSEqC SimpleA/SimpleB for FireDTV-S (SimpleB wasn't working)
- Crash of config wizard's media scan when path was longer than 260 chars
- Minor fixes for TV Movie plugin

Improved:
- Video files start much faster now
- TV Guide does not display "unknow" any longer if no description is available
- Music context menu, reordered for faster playlist building, little speedup

Added:
- Wait cursor while loading internet-streams.
- Weather plugin's city search can be canceled now
- Support for some new tv cards
- Notification on song change while watching picture slideshows

Great idea. This might help in letting SVN builts be what the are, a testing tool, not a public beta.
Please keep on this good work.

I'm a complete dummy when it comes to SVN and stuff, so please bear with me.
I'm trying to learn something here. You say "svn builds are NOT updates or bugfixes".
Does this mean than when a bugfix occurs it will not be a part of any SVN? Help me understand this!

@ivankurac3

SVN is our online repository for the sourcecode of MediaPortal.
every night a snapshot of this code is generated automatically that features the current state of developement.

therefore this nightly builds were not supposed to be stable. they were made to be able to TEST the new codechanges.

the stable builds (patches) were made manually by the developers. only bugfixes are in that patches (stable builds).

this means you can install the stable builds (patches) without the fear that they might break your system.

Urg, could you not just release this as 0.2.0.1 or something? The fact that this is neither the stable nor a nightly is quite confusing.

well, I plan on releasing weekly patches if this is possible. There are many users with the "bad habit" to install svn builds in hope for some fixes..

as a svn user myself since I had to use it for the dvb before .2 this is a great idea, I agree with the 0.2.1 numbering

Great idea but unsure why you need to kill your configuration, plugs etc, that took ages to get right. To save 1,000's of people each having to spend an hour or 2 which = 2,000's of man hours expended around the globe. If there was an update script that could import and maintain all old settings while performing any type of upgrade that would be most excellent.

(NEW MP user, totally blown away, (ex- myth, ex-xbmc))

You do not really NEED too but dont blame anyone if this doesnt work. It cant be tested on hundrets of different installations so you need to try on your own. In 98% of all cases its working without any reconfiguring.

Weekly STABLE updates sounds amaizing.

Since you've choosen to use .rar files (which might confuse some ppl), links to 7-zip or IZArc (my favorite)should be right along the download instructions

Hi,

I realise that MediaPortal does not support TV card Kworld DVB-T220. Do you have any plan to support this TV card in the near future. More information can be found in the following web site

http://www.kworld.com.tw/en/ index_download_D+A.htm

Thanks
Mr Kong
