Overview

How to use your own custom logos for media info and genres; add logos for countries, languages, etc.; or modify logo rules.

Introduction

In most case, you can just select a Logos preset . However you can use the Logos Editor to:

• change the order in which logos display
• modify one or more individual logos
• add new logos and rules (e.g. for countries, languages, or for categories not already supported)
• modify logo rules/conditions

Before you start, you need to understand how logo rules work in My Films.

Logo Rules

Logo rules are saved in the

...\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MyFilmsLogos.xml

file.

Warning: Always copy or back up that file before modifying logos rules just in case!

Skins may provide their own

MyFilmsLogos.xml

in the skin folder, particularly if they use different names for the logo image files.  My Films will automatically check for and use the Skin logos rules in this file, if available, otherwise it uses the default logos rules. If you wish to use your own logos or rules you must either delete or modify the skin logos rules file.

A logo rule contains:

• Logo Group (Type) - 3 groups or types are supported: 2001, 2002, 2003
• Field
• Boolean Operator - And, Or
• Operator - Equal, not equal, contains, not contains, greater, lower, filled, not filled, regex (as of v 6.0.3)
• Value
• Logo picture or Image name (may contain path if necessary but presets already establish the path)

So a logo rule in

MyFilmsLogos.xml

looks like this:

<entry name="ID2001_1">VideoFormat;contains;divx;or;VideoFormat;contains;div3;DIVX.png</entry>

However you do not need to edit the XML file. You may customize logo rules in Setup > Logos tab.

Note: Display of logos depends on the skin. To modify the location you must edit the skin XML files that contain the logos image controls 

Modify one or more individual logos

The easy way is to:

1. Copy an existing logos pack to a folder of your choice
2. Modify or replace the images you want
3. Under presets, select Define your path to logo image files

If you use the same file names as the default images, you won't need to modify the logo rules.

However, you can also just add individual logos to a folder of your choice, and modify the logo rule. For example, The My Films logos pack includes more than one logo image for some genres. If you wish to change to another image:

1. Select the logo rule you wish to modify - in this example, 'Category contains Crime'
2. Click the logo image to select a logo
3. Navigate to the folder that contains the logo image you wish to use, in this case:

   • ...MediaPortal\Thumbs\MyFilms\DefaultLogos

4. Select the logo image you prefer, in this case

   crime2.png

   - your new logo image will display in the logo image preview box.
5. Press the Update Logo Rule button to save the changes

Change order of Logo Display

1. Select the logo rule
2. Press the Up or Down buttons to move it where you wish in the list of logos rules

Add new logos

Suppose you use more detailed categories or genres in your database, or have added your own genres and wish to display a logo image for them.  For example, you notice there are two logo images in the My Films logos pack for 'Crime' and decide to use one for a sub genre "Detective'. Here is how you add a logo rule:

1. Press the Add button
2. Select a Type (or Group) from the drop down list - default=(ID 2002) - ID2001, ID2002, ID2003 - See Logo Groups above for more info
3. Select a Field from the drop down list, i.e. Category in this example
4. Select an operator from the drop down list
   •  equal, not equal, contains, not contains, greater, lower, filled, not filled, regex (as of v 6.0.3)
5. Select a value from the drop down list of currently used values in your database, or type the value - i. e. Detective
6. Click on the image box and select the logo image you wish to use - i. e.

7. *Boolean operato*r - And, Or - you only need this if you are combing two conditions for your logo rule
8. Press the Update Logo Rule button to save the changes

 Tip:  You can easily add logos for 3D movies, Hi Def movies etc. if you have used a field in your database to categorize them, or can create a rule to find them via the Video Format media info field.

 Tip: Select "regex" instead of "contains" to use expressions for matching instead of simple string matching for logo rules. Check the Certification logo rules as an example.

Modify Logo Rules/Conditions

It is very easy to modify a logo rule.  For example, if you wish to display the Blu-ray logo under different conditions:

1. Select the rule for the Blu-ray logo
2. Modify the conditions you wish to use as in the above example

Delete a Logo Rule

1. Select the rule
2. Press the Delete button

Use a Custom Logos Set

If you have or find a set of Logos you like, such as those provided with your Movie Catalog:

1. Under presets, select Define your path to logo image files
2. Select each logo rule, and click the logo image to select the image you wish to display

If your custom logos use the same filenames as the default logos, they may display correctly already.

You can also modify the logo rules as outline above to customize when each logo displays.
