Overview

Test if MediaInfo can read your movie file correctly.

Introduction

MediaInfo is an application included in MediaPortal (and other media software) that reads media info, such as the Video and Audio format, bitrate, resolution, framerate etc.

If you experience any issues with the mediainfo data imported by AMC Updater, you can use the Mediainfo tab to determine where the problem is.

Example: If some media files are imported without certain data, such as the resolution, you can use the MediaInfo tab to check whether the program is able to understand your movie file.

This can be particularly useful for containers like .mkv files or for DVDs, Blu-rays which may report the mediainfo data in different files on the disc or contain multiple audio/language streams or subtitles.

Note: You can choose to import and display media info languages instead of the languages grabbed for the movie from your preferred website. See AMC Updater > Database Fields Tab > Other Field Handling.

Analyse your media file

  1. Select a movie/media file using the 'browse' button [...]
  2. Click the Analyse button

Relevant media data from the file will be displayed on the form. If a field you need is not shown, please report a bug in the forums.

Subtitles and Audio languages are only reported if they are contained in your movie file, not external files.

Alternatively, try downloading the latest version of MediaInfo to verify your issue.

Note:  MediaPortal may provide a more up to date version of MediaInfo than Ant Movie Catalog.  Thus you may get slightly different results in AMC Updater than you do in AMC.
