Can I use My Films if I don't have a external database (i.e. movie catalog software)?

Background

My Films is designed primarily for use with an existing movie catalog software because they provide so many features and help structure data correctly for use in My Films. If you are looking for a quick solution to scan movie files and play them in MediaPortal, you should use the excellent Videos feature plugin in MediaPortal, or the[ Moving Pictures|Moving Pictures] plugin, which are designed for that purpose.

Answer

Yes! If you don't have a Supported Catalog, you can scan and create a XML database in AMC format,  to use in My Films - see New Catalogs.

Once you  have created your new catalog, you can use either AMC Updater or install AMC (Ant Movie Catalog) to manage the catalog you created.
