How do I know which grabber script to choose and what features are supported by different grabber scripts?

Background

Grabber scripts can update your AMC data in My Films. Updates are not supported for other External Catalogs since you must overwrite the XML file by exporting it from the catalog and lose all your updates!  Several grabber scripts are provided with My Films. You may choose to use one of these grabbers, or you may 'grab' data for different fields from different websites by using different grabbers and updating by field/property.

It depends on your preferences.  My Films provides a variety of grabber scripts for both English and non English sites, including localized IMDb sites.  See Grabber Scripts for more info.

IMDB (and localized versions) is a 'quick' grabber that grabs the main data most users require from the main page on the IMDb Website.  IMDB-Full can grab all the data from sub pages as well, such as all actors, persons, producers, AKA titles, certifications/ratings and supports all customization features.

Furthermore, My Films offers a Grabber Script Editor that allows you to customize the grabbers (especially IMDB) according to your preferences, such as:

• actor roles
• the number of actors and other 'persons' like directors, writers, producers which are downloaded
• the country/language of alternate titles (AKA) and Certification(s)
• and mapping of fields not supported in AMC such as Tagline, Certification, etc.

Advanced users can even use the Grabber Editor to create a grabber for sites not already supported.
