MediaPortal 1.2.0 Beta Enters Code Freeze!

Today MediaPortal 1.2.0 Beta entered its final phase of development:. the Code Freeze.

In this phase, the team is now deeply testing a build of MediaPortal's source code which potentially could be released as 1.2.0 Beta. No more commits to SVN are allowed, unless it is a fix for a showstopper issue found during this final testing period. Such a fix will result in the creation of a new build, which then is tested again internally by the team.

As soon as testing does not reveal any new showstopper bugs, this build will be released to the public as 1.2.0 Beta.

When will 1.2.0 Beta be available for download?

This process usually takes 14 days. Since there won't be any more changes to our source code for 1.2.0 beta, this is the perfect time for our great skin designers and plugin developers to update their extensions to work with 1.2.0 Beta.

Are there changes that affect extensions?

Skin Designers have more features at their disposal now. But there were also some changes done inside MP which require an update so that the skin will continue to work properly.

A detailed list of changes is available in our wiki.

Plugin Developers must incorporate the information for Version Compatibility we introduced. There are also other changes in 1.2.0 Beta which require updates for extensions to work correctly with this new release.

We also have a new default skin.  As a result, there are no "Blue3" and "Blue3wide" skin folders present anymore. So plugins must change their installers and MPEI packages to distribute their skin files to the folders" Default" and "DefaultWide" from 1.2.0 beta on.

The detailed list of changes is available in the wiki is well.

Where to post and download 1.2.0 Beta extensions?

Our downloads repository on the homepage is only for extensions compatible with stable release versions of MediaPortal.  New versions of extensions will be announced and distributed through the related forum threads.

Extensions for 1.2.0 Beta won't be approved inside the repository to avoid confusion for users not yet using the test release.

Support MediaPortal!

The team works very hard to make sure the community is running the best HTPC-software. We give away MediaPortal for free but hosting and software is not for us.

Care to support our work with a few bucks? We'd really appreciate it!
