Ribbon

The Ribbon acts as the main navigation of the product. It consists of various Tabs, like Tags, Database. Convert and Rip, to get access to the sub functions, as well as a Quick access toolbar, which allows Saving Changes, Refreshing the current folder as well as opn the settings section. As an alternative, the Settings section can be opened by clicking on the blue area besides the "Tags" Tab.

Hovering over a Ribbon Button gives a short tool tip about the functionality behind the button.

Most of the menu functions have a Keyboard shortcut assigned. The key assignments can be changed in the settings dialog.

Quick Access Toolbar (QAT)

Save (Ctrl-S) - saves the changed songs

Refresh (F5) - Refreshes the content for the selected folder

Settings - opens the Settings section

Tags Ribbon

The Tags Ribbon contains access to the Tag Manament functions. The actions are applied to the selected songs in the grid. If no selection was made before selecting a ribbon function, the system performs a Select-All.

The following functions are available in the Tags Ribbon:

Tag from Filename (Ctrl-F) - opens a dialog, which uses different patterns to extract tags, like track number, Artist, Album or Title out of the File name and the Folder structure.

Auto Tagging (Ctrl - I) - uses a digital fingerprint of the song to sarch for song information on MusicBrainz  

Tag from Internet (Ctrl-K) - uses Artist and Album information for a lookup at Discogs, LastFM and Musicbrainz 

Get Cover Art (Ctrl-B) - uses Artist and Album information for a lookup of Cover art at Discogs, LastFM and Musicbrainz 

Get Lyrics (Ctrl - L) - searches for Lyrics of the selected song on various sites

MusicBrainz Info (Ctrl - M) - retrieves Musicbrainz onfo, like Artist Id, Release Artist Id, Release Id, TRack id, etc.

Case Conversion (F6) - performs a case conversion in the various Tags based on options set

Find (Ctrl - Alt - F) - performs a Find operation in the displayed Tags with the option to perfrom a Replace (Ctrl -H)

Validate MP3 (Ctrl - Shift - V) / Fix MP3 (Ctrl - Shift - F) - analyzes mp3 files for errors and optionally fixes them

Delete Tags - Remove all tags from the selected songs. For songs in mp3 format, optionally ID3 v1 or v2 tags can be removed

Remove all Comments (F4) - removes all comments from the selected songs

Replay Gain (Ctrl - G) - analysis the selected songs for level information and stores the info as tags. The song itself is not modified

BPM Detect - anaysis the selected song and detects the Beats per minutes, which are store in te respetive tag

Script Execute (Ctrl - E) - executes the script selected in the combo box

Number on Click - while this button is toggled on, a click on a song in the song grid will change the track number tag

Auto Number - the selected songs will be numbered starting with the number in the text box

Rename File (Ctrl - R) - the files will be renamed using the tags according to the patterns in the dialog

Organise Files (Ctrl - O) - the files will be copied / moved in the file system using the tags according to the patterns in the dialog

Add to Conversion - the selected songs will be added to the conversion list, which can be accessed via the Convert Tab

Settings - Opens the Settings dialog

Database Ribbon

The Database Ribbon allows interacting with the Music Database. Performing a query switches the Treeview into database mode and the song grid is refreshed with the results of the database search.

All actions performed on the Tags Ribbon are applied to the songs returned by the database search.

The following functions are available in the Database Ribbon: 

Query - executes a search on the active music database. Historic queries are stored in the query combo

Switch Database - allows switching between music database or allocating a new database

Tag Checker (Experimental) - should allow automatic checking and correction of tags based on various criteria. Currently in development. functionality and featires might change

Start Database Scan - scans the folder selected in the combo box and stores the tags of the songs found in the database

Abort Scan - aborts the currently running scan

Delete Database - deletes the currently active database

Database status - shows statistic information about the currently active database

Convert Ribbon

The Convert Ribbon controls the conversion process of songs.

The following functions are available in the Convert Ribbon:

Start Conversion - starts the conversion process

Cancel Conversion - aborts the conversion process

Rip Ribbon

The Rip Ribbon controls the proces of ripping songs from a CD

Start Rip - starts ripping songs from the inserted CD

Cancel Rip - stops the ripping of songs

CD Query - performs a lookup on MusicBrainz using the CD Identifier
