Use an External Player with My Films to playback media not supported by MediaPortal.
When to use an External Player?
MediaPortal currently does not support playback of 3D movies. Only v 1.3.0 or later supports playback of Blu-rays. See Supported Media Types for details. However, as of v 6.0.0 My Films allows you to use an External Player to play any media not supported by MediaPortal.
How to Setup External Players in My Films
In Setup > General Tab under Movie Playback:
External Player:
- Enter the path to your external player - use the [...] button to browse to your player
- Enter the placeholders for the media file to be played - supported placeholders are: %filename%, %fps%, %root%, %drive%.
- Enter the media file extensions, for the files you wish to play using an External player. Separate multiple values/extensions with a semi-colon (

Playing media using External Player
In My Films, if you have defined a pattern in setup, the external player will automatically be used to play that content.
You can also choose to select the External Player you defined in Setup for any media, by selecting it from the context menu.
