How to configure Hybrid TV Cards

Introduction

A hybrid TV card (or stick) is a card which has two or more tuners but you can only use one tuner at a time. An example of a hybrid card is a card which has both an analog and a DVB-T tuner. You can use either one, but you can not use both at the same time. If you want to watch analog TV, you can not use the DVB-T tuner and vice versa.

In the Windows operating system, a hybrid card is represented as two separate TV cards: e.g. an analog card and DVB-T card. Thus, you must configure the Hybrid card by 'grouping' the tuners together,  so that TV-Server detects them as a hybrid card rather than two separate cards.

Configuration

When you have installed the TV-Server all cards will be shown in setup. The screenshot displays a system containing a FlyTv Express X1 MST-T2A2 dual hybrid TV-card.

Note: You must configure every hybrid card*,* not only dual hybrid cards*,* but also those that have a single DVB-T/Analog tuner*.*

The FlyTv Express is a dual hybrid card which contains

  • 2 analog inputs
  • 2 DVB-T inputs

This card allows you to

  • use 2 analog tuners at the same time
  • or use 2 DVB-T tuners at the same time
  • or use 1 DVB-T tuner and 1 analog tuner at the same time

Group the tuners

  1. Select the first DVB-T and analog tuner which belong together
  2. Right click and place them in a separate group:

Dual Hybrid Cards

If you have a dual-hybrid card, repeat the same for the 2nd DVB-T and analog tuner.

Hybrid Cards tab

Once the tuners have been placed in a group, you should see the following picture:

Now the TV-Server will recognize the hybrid cards and will respect the limitations of the card(s).
