Extended metadata structure

In this new release we added many new features and also extended the metadata in our Media Library. After an update you might not see your media items (audio, video, images). In this case please remove the shares and add them again. Unfortunately there is no full re-import of all shares available (only a "refresh", which only considers changed or new files, but not updating existing ones).

Keeping existing databases when using alternative DB providers

MediaPortal 2 supports different database plugins to store its MediaLibrary. The default installer ships SQLCE, but there exists also providers for MySQL and SQLite.

If you already have an Alpha1 version of MP2 running and you are using a different database plugin than default SQLCE you need to take some few manual steps first:

1. Stop the MP2 Alpha1 server and move this custom plugin away to a save place as you need it later.
2. Install MP2 A2 Server, this will include SQLCE plugin.
3. After installation is finished, stop MP2 server, and replace SQLCE plugin with your SQLite or MySQL plugin again.
4. Start MP2 server again and all your data should be there like before.
