Overview

All your media files, such as music, pictures, videos etc. can be stored in your Windows Documents folder, or anywhere you wish.

MediaPortal Files

Several  folders are used to store files for MediaPortal 2, whose locations may vary depending on the OS you use.

We have used a common method of naming these folders throughout the wiki and folder or file locations are always displayed in a different font.

There are basically two main areas where files are stored, with a separate sub-folder for MediaPortal 2 Client, Server and ServiceMonitor respectively:

1. Program Files \Team MediaPortal

   1. \MP2-Client - where the MP2-Client application files are stored

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Client

   2. \MP2-Server - were the MP2-Server application files are stored

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server

   3. \MP2-ServiceMonitor - were the MP2-ServiceMonitor application files are stored

Data folder

The Data folder contains sub folders for configuration files, log files and other plugin specific data files, i.e. caches for TheMovieDb or TheTvDb grabbers. Please be aware that C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder by default. If you want to have a look at, you need to adjust your Explorer settings to see hidden folders.

Database files ( i.e. Datastore.s3db or MP2TVE_3.s3db) are also stored in the Data folder.
