Skins in MediaPortal are much more than just themes. In fact, some skins include a variety of themes to suit your taste.

Skins can change the whole look and feel of MediaPortal, sometimes even the way you navigate, the appearance of menus, etc.

Customizing Skins

OK you found a skin you love, and you would like to change just a few little things! Can you? Sure!

Skins are created using simple xml files which can be edited in any text editor like Notepad. 

The only problem is that some things are easy to change and some are considerably more complex.

Before you start customizing skin files, please see[ Contribute > Skins|Skins], especially Skin Architecture.

Many skins also offer some customization options, especially for Basic Home screens. Please contact the skin designer via the Skins Forum for details.
