Overview
In earlier versions of MediaPortal, the thumbs were generated from the beginning of the video where the frames are not very dynamic. Often, very similar thumbnails were created and therefore not informative at all. The thumbs should be taken with more time difference apart from each other.
Description of Change
This rework includes options that allow users to change the time offset for both video and recorded TV thumbs.
Time offset in minutes
The user now has the option to change the time offset in minutes. If you set it to 2 minutes for example, the first thumb will be generated after two minutes playtime of the recording. Should the video duration be less than the time offset, the time offset is automatically shorter.
For a movie (in MyVideos) you will find this option in the MediaPortal Configuration > GUI > Thumbnails
Default value is 1 (minute).
For a recording (in RecordedTV) you will find this option in the TV-Server Configuration > Recording > Thumbs
Default value is 0 (minutes).
Refresh video thumb
The user also has the possibility to refresh the video thumb from context menu (press Windows 7 Power Management: Fixing PC Insomnia when a video is selected to open the context menu or use the right mouse button).
Multiple thumbnails
If you use more than one thumb (e.g. 2x2 tiles) the time between the thumbs will be calculated automatically from the video duration. This means more difference between thumbs.
