It has happened.......

Thats the date and time we registered MediaPortal on Sourceforge...
Frodo had the great idea to make a media center on a pc-based system but he really wanted a digital video recorder. As he had written the larger part of the xbmc code @ that time he started by porting that code. It was a lot of fun.

The first forumtopic on XBMC forums is still alive :) I would suggest reading that as it is a fun read. Mediaportals first steps are in there!

It began being a community driven project on it's first day. The name MediaPortal was born on the IRC channel we had at that time. The discussion was a pretty long one but we finally set for MediaPortal. After that we had daily bugfix released and feature additions. Development was going pretty fast and then we had a letter from a lawyer telling us we could not use some images in our skin.. So we were skinless for a few weeks. The donations we receive are great, and some we got from directions we would have never though to be possible.

The countless hours we all put into MediaPortal...

Guys, thank you for whatever you did for MediaPortal. Being a user, developer, skinner, service provider, or whatever. I am very proud when looking at how MediaPortal has grown and what it has become. Very proud to have been there on it's first steps.

You all make MP happen. Lets keep it up.

About The Project

The vision of the MediaPortal project is to create a free open source media centre application, which supports all advanced media centre functions, and is accessible to all Windows users.

In reaching this goal we are working every day to make sure our software is one of the best.

Support MediaPortal!

The team works very hard to make sure the community is running the best HTPC-software. We give away MediaPortal for free but hosting and software is not for us.

Care to support our work with a few bucks? We'd really appreciate it!
