Overview

Normally all .ts (transport stream) files are played with TSReader source filter. A new option has been added to the Video Codecs section of MediaPortal Configuration to allow the use of video codecs and e.g.[ LAV Splitter|LAV Splitter Configuration] for playback of .ts files in Videos and Moving Pictures.

For Live TV and playing a recording from the Recorded TV section in MediaPortal, the TV Codecs will still be used.

Description of Change

MediaPortal Configuration

The new setting can be found in the MediaPortal Configuration > Codecs and Renderer > Video Codecs section as shown in the screenshot below.

Settings (in MP)

Three new settings can be found in the MediaPortal > Settings > Videos section as shown in the screenshot below:

New settings:

Automatic Decoder Settings

Tip You can use a tool such as GraphStudioNext to change filter's merits.

When this options is checked, MediaPortal will query Windows Directshow to construct the whole filter codec chain with the highest merit (except Audio and Video Renderers). The decoders selected in the drop down lists above will be ignored.

0 Video Codecs

Video Codecs for .TS files

This option is unchecked by default, so it will leave the known behavior unchanged (TSReader and TV settings will be used for .ts playback). When this option is enabled, the chosen video decoder and splitter will be used.
